The Iliad illustrated by Neil Packer
7 - 24 October 2015
We are thrilled to celebrate The Iliad illustrated by Neil Packer. (Retold by Gillian Cross, published by Walker Books)

As one of the great classics of world literature Homer’s Iliad is a tragic tale of love, power, war, betrayal and loss – it has enchanted readers for over two thousand years and continues to do so to this day. Gillian Cross’s retelling of this Homeric poem is first-class and is aptly matched by the artwork by the much-loved and highly talented Neil Packer. With over two years in production Neil has worked tirelessly to research each and every detail of this story with strict attention to historical accuracy enhancing his gloriously skillful technical mastery.

Wielding pen, brush and colour Neil has produced a magical array of vivid and haunting paintings superbly representing the classical heroes in their tragic and fateful conflict. A companion book to The Odyssey produced by this winning combination of author and artist and exhibited here at their gallery two years ago this newly published book is equally fascinating, engaging and a work of art in itself.

Original artwork and signed first edition books will be available to purchase. Private View: Tuesday 13 October, 5:30 - 8:00pm
